Food

Free food, no questions asked.

Nobody in Troy should go hungry. Whether you need a fresh meal, groceries to cook at home, or something tonight when everything else is closed, come by. You don't need a referral, an ID, or a reason.

🍲 Community meals

Two fresh meals every week, cooked in our kitchen and open to everyone:

  • Monday evenings, 5:45 to 6:30 pm
  • Thursdays, 12 to 1 pm, or until the food is gone

We also host special meals through the year. Watch News and events for those.

🛒 Groceries

Groceries are distributed Thursdays, 12 to 1 pm, or until the food is gone, alongside the Thursday meal. Come by and take what your household needs. No ID and no referral.

🥬 The Free Food Fridge

Outside our building at 392 Second Street, the Free Food Fridge is open 24 hours a day, every day. You’re invited to take what you need and share what you have. The whole community takes responsibility for filling the fridge. Ready-to-eat foods, grab-and-go lunches, groceries, local produce from neighborhood gardens, it’s all welcome!

If you need more than we have

Community Compass keeps lists of every food pantry and community meal in Troy and Lansingburgh, not just ours. See the lists.

When to come

Monday 5:45 to 6:30 pm for a hot meal. Thursday 12 to 1 pm for a fresh meal and groceries. Any other time for the Free Food Fridge, which never closes.

A place at the table

Food is about more than calories, it’s company. Our dining room fills with neighbors from every walk of life, and there’s always a seat for one more.

Our garden

We grow food right here. In season, vegetables from the TAUM garden go straight into the meals we serve and into the Free Food Fridge. Thanks to partners at Mohawk Global and Capital Roots, and gifts from the First Reformed Church of Schenectady and the Common Roots Foundation, we are expanding the garden in 2026.
